Prerequisites

New! We have developed CernVM Installer which enables VritualBox users to deploy CernVM instances (i.e. automates steps 1 and 2) with few mouse clicks. After CernVM is deployed it should be configured as described here.

 In order to use CernVM

• Install a hypervisor. We recommend to use VirtualBox, which is available on Windows, Linux and Mac (the current supported version of VirtualBox is 3.2.12). VirtualBox can be downloaded from http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
  
  
• Download CernVM image from: http://cernvm.cern.ch/portal/downloads
  
  If you plan to run X window manager in VM download 'CernVM Desktop (VirtualBox)' image (either 32 Bit (x86) or 64 Bit (x86_64)), otherwise download 'CernVM (VirtualBox)' image.
   
• Extract the zipped tarball
