Prerequisites

 In order to use CernVM

• Install a hypervisor. You can use VMware , which is available on Windows, Linux and Mac.
  VMware can be downloaded from:

  http://www.vmware.com/products/workstation/  if you are using Windows and Linux OS
  http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/  if you are using Mac OS

  Please note, that both VMware Workstation and VMware Fusion are commercial products.
  
  

• Download CernVM image from: http://cernvm.cern.ch/portal/downloads

  If you plan to run X window manager in VM download 'CernVM Desktop (VMware)' image (either 32 Bit (x86) or 64 Bit (x86_64)), otherwise download 'CernVM (VMware)' image 
  

• Extract CernVM image files from archive
